The Ontario Ministry of Labour has recently approved changes to the Occupational Exposure Limits of 21 chemicals that took effect in January 2018. Gemcraft can help you with your equipment changeover to ensure minimal losses.
With these amendments, the new “30-year time-weighted average exposure” for n-propyl bromide (also called nPB or 1-bromopropane and identified by CAS #106-94-5) is adjusted downward from 10 parts per million to 0.1 parts per million. This will impact any nPB solvent you currently use. Under most manufacturing conditions this will not be an attainable goal, and will require a change in solvent. For your information we have attached a link to the recent Ontario Ministry of Labour Notice and chemical chart below. https://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/resources/notices.php#august012017 https://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/about/consultations/oels/table.php As Gem Craft Chemical has been anticipating this change since recommendations were made by the ACGIH in its annual review for 2014 and 2015, we have been able to put in place a number of replacement solvents with the manufacturers you have come to trust. Companies like EnviroTech International, MicroCare Corporation and Chemours (DuPont). These products include the now Boeing 5408 approved Chemours Vertrel SDG Select. Gem Craft Chemical is a full service provider and can assist you with choosing the best chemistry for your needs as well as assisting with your equipment needs and modifications to ensure the least amount of solvent losses during your transition to a replacement product.
